Clarification

I should have clarified this earlier because I got several emails and a couple comments about our upcoming finalization.  We haven't spent these past 8+ months nervous about the finalization because the TPR (termination of parent's rights) was signed the day he came home to us at 7 days old. The TPR cannot be rescinded - Declan's birthparents can NOT change their mind.

Legally, we had to have 3 more home studies completed and then a bunch of paperwork filed. During this time, the adoption agency we are going through are the actual legal guardians. On June 2nd, we will become his legal parents forever. Now- of course- he's been a million percent ours from the beginning. :)

Hope that clears it all up.

That's the same way ours worked! He's been yours in your heart since day one, but it's wonderful to have it legal!!!

We had to answer lots of questions, too, and it was only a month until finalization! I'm sure it will be a relief for you to put behind you all of the SW-related communication and paperwork. It's fun, too, to get the SS card with your last name on it! :)

Tracey said it...to have the official papers that make it so just cements the whole thing together, even though it's been that way since the first. I am SO thrilled for you, I know you must be very excited to have an official date!

I know I've said this a hundred times....but Declan is seriously the cutest kid I've ever seen! His little personality just explodes from the pictures...I wish we lived close enough so he could be best buds with our soon-to-be baby boy!

Oh, that makes me feel so much better for all you mommies and pops battling to adopt. I am glad that it becomes a sure thing right away, and it is just paperwork and such from then on...
