ER

Saturday was intended to be packed full of getting the house ready to sell. I went to put Decs down for a nap and did a quick diaper change. I was reaching for some shorts (holding on to his leg) and he flipped off the changing table and fell face forward on to the hard wood floor. He cried so hard and had blood coming out of his nose. We headed to the ER and spent the next couple of hours checking him out. It was a scary experience but, fortunately, he's fine.

My mom guilt meter was ranking pretty high but I know accidents do happen. It was a hard lesson to learn, but my little man will no longer be changed on a changing table. We did a little rearranging and here's our new set up:

Oh man, how scary...I can't even imagine how you must have felt! The worst part is that it only takes a second for them to get hurt. I know you must have felt terrible, but thankfully he is OK! Hopefully the new setup will work better for all of you.

Hugs,

Melba

Ugh, that is super scary. Your poor babe. I am so glad everything turned out well.

I have been having those same scenarios flashing thru my head lately - I think I will have to put an end to some of the old routine!

Scary stuff, but I can totally see how it can happen. Don't blame yourself.

Ashley... Accidents DO happen all of the time! Glad he is a tough little man! You are such a great mommy to Declan! :)

This hits close to home for me because we have mostly hard floors, too, and I've been thinking it's just a matter of time before something like this happens. Babies are so squirmy during changes at this age! Thanks for posting about this, I'm going to consider moving Evie to the floor, too. I'm so glad Declan is fine! (((Hugs)))

Whew, I'm glad that Declan is okay. Babies are squirmy little things :) You shouldn't feel guilty at all. Accidents happen and the important part is that Declan is fine :)

Poor little guy and poor mom too. I imagine it was pretty scary. I think we need to move ours too as Samuel thinks it is just fine to flip all over the place while 4 feet off the ground.

So sorry....we didn't have blood but Samuel rolled out of the bouncy chair onto the kitchen floor land had a bump on his head, nose and chin. It will be ok....it happens to most everyone at least once.

Wow. Scary, scary! Glad you kept your composure. The other day I let a big toy (that should have been strapped down) fall directly onto R's nose. She SCREAMED, but no blood. It hard to be the THING that hurts your baby, but I guess it won't be the last time!!

Poor thing :( Hey DJ fell off his changing table about a month ago and into the bottom drawer of his dresser (it was open since I was looking for clothing as well)...he bumped his head pretty good, but no blood, so no ER. It's very scary...especially with baby #1. We did the 20 ER visits with Annalise, poor DJ just gets dusted off and propped back up again! LOL!

P.S Dec's in the baby hospital gown is WAY to cute for words!!!
