[Not] Sad Goodbye

Dear Dr. Brown,
Thank you for making a bottle that helped my tiny little newborn have less gas. You're a smart man, Dr. Brown. I could have done without the 87 parts that need to be taken a part at each cleaning. But, really, I'm thankful. It came time in our home last week to put your fancy bottles away for good. Yes, Dr., Declan is now BOTTLE FREE. Woot woot!! It wasn't nearly as painful as I had built it up to be. The cold turkey approach was a success. Decs wasn't so thrilled about his cold milk in a sippy but after offering it to him 108 times, he finally took to it. Now I'm on a quest for a completely leak free sippy cup. I doubt it exists.

Stay tuned for pacifier weaning in the next 2ish-3ish months.

I liked the gerber cups, too....and the Nuby cups were a hit around here. The best, though, imo is the Munchkin cups. We never have leaks with them....though we use the straw ones (went pretty much straight to those, actually)...but my best friend uses the spout ones and they do just as well.

Congrats on getting off the bottle. We havn't been able to get rid of the bottle just yet. For the past 3 month or so Samuel has been on only one bottle right before bed. He usually sucks 8 oz down and I am afraid that he won't sleep as well without it.

My favorite are the Playtex insulated with the lid that "locks" on. You can get them by onsies or twosies at Target. They have NEVER leaked. Not even once. And let me tell you, I have personally purchased one of EVERYTHING in my quest for the perfect sippy.

Congrats Dec! Holly's been off the bottle since her birthday... that was her last bubba! It was so easy. I had her down to three sippies a day so the fourth was no issue for us. Now the pacifier... I agree... oh no! We used Dr Browns as well and I wish I could say we are done but we're just pulling them out for Hannah now!

Wow! That's an exciting day. It is quite the production to wash those bottles. When we brought Nora home I only had one dishwasher insert and quickly realized that was completely inadequate. I think it also took us a few feedings to really figure out the system. Poor Nora! Congrats on this milestone! I look forward to learning your tricks with the pacifier.

Drew used the playex cups - insulated and non - and I've never had a problem with leaks. Congrats on being bottle-free!

I cannot wait for these bottles to find their way into a box at my house. I hate hate hate cleaning them! We've been trying out new sippy cups (in hopes of getting Dr. Brown to retire) and I came across these:

This was the cheapest place I could find them. They seem to work very well. Despite being left on their side with red pedialyte in them, they have not leaked!

Good luck!

We like the Playtex ones. The Nuby ones were great to introduce sippy cups, but they leaked like crazy.

Way to go Decs! We still get a bottle at nap and bedtime though I've given in a sippy before because bottles needed washed and he didnt fuss at all. I guess I need to get moving on the bottle packing!
